Course Overview
The Lake Charles Country Club boasts of having one of the finest conditioned championship golf courses in the South.
Course Holes
Hole 1
Par 5
577 yards
This tough opening hole is the longest par 5 on the course. It is a three shot hole for most, with your tee shot needs to avoid the bunkers left of the fairway. A good tee shot allows you to lay up to your preferred yardage, leaving you a short shot to a green protected on all sides by out of bounds. The cemetery left of the green is what most remembered about this hole.
Hole 4
Par 4
402 yards
A difficult driving hole as beautiful oak trees define the fairway in the landing area of your tee shot. Once this is accomplished, the approach is to a well-guarded green by bunkers. Short and left leaves an easier pitch shot to get up and down.
Hole 7
Par 5
494 yards
The easiest and shortest par 5 on the course, now is the time to be aggressive. A straight away hole with out of bounds down the entire left side and a creek on the right of the tee shot. A good tee shot allows you to go for this one is two, setting you up for a easy birdie. This three tier green is protected by bunkers left and short right.
Hole 10
Par 4
386 yards
A short par 4 that requires a good tee shot, as trees protect both sides of the fairway. The second shot approach is over water to a long, narrow green making your distance control more important.
Hole 13
Par 4
425 yards
This is one of the longest par 4’s on the course. This hole is straight away with OB on the left and large oak trees down the right. Your approach will need to be precise to this multi- tier green to be able to walk away with a good score.
Hole 16
Par 3
214 yards
The toughest and longest par 3 at Lake Charles Country Club requires accuracy as well. This hole is guarded by a large pond all down the right and pot bunkers on the left. A shot that finds the green will leave a great chance at birdie as this green is relatively flat.
Hole 2
Par 4
359 yards
This relatively easy par 4 requires a good tee shot avoiding the fairway traps on the right sets up an approach shot to a green protected on all sides by bunkers. Two large oak trees protect the opening to the green on either side of the fairway approaching the green. Keep the ball below the hole to stay away from a high number.
Hole 5
Par 5
393 yards
Another tough driving hole as water protects the entire left side of the hole and pine trees down the right. A short approach to a kidney shaped green with bunkers on the right gives you the best opportunity for a birdie or easy par.
Hole 8
Par 4
288 yards
The signature hole, a short par 4, offers a risk/reward challenge. Long hitters can go for the green, but with water guarding the front and left, it's risky. Most players opt for a safer tee shot, leaving a short approach to the undulating green. If the pin is up front, use the slope in the middle of the green to bring the ball back without risking the water.
Hole 11
Par 5
518 yards
A tough par 5 that requires accuracy from the tee shot to the approach shot. Trees on the left and a creek on the right define the tee shot, while a lake comes into play on the lay-up and approach shot into the green. Bunkers are in front and left of the green, making this a three shot hole for most players.
Hole 14
Par 3
176 yards
The hole location determines the difficulty of this beautiful hole. This is a great chance for a birdie If the hole location is in the middle to front of the putting surface. Precision is a must when the hole location is beyond the ridge that runs across the back third of this green
Hole 17
Par 4
390 yards
The final par 4, while short in distance, typically records some of the highest scores on players scorecard. The OB that runs down the left side of this entire hole is close to the fairway and green. The right side is no bargain either as several large oak trees frame the hole and will block your approach to this large green that is surrounded by bunkers on the left and two large grass bunkers on the right side.
Hole 3
Par 3
160 yards
A 160 yard par 3 protected by bunkers on the right and left of the green. Aim for the middle of the green, short leaves you a tough pitch shot to a green that has large slope from back to front.
Hole 6
Par 4
192 yards
A good long iron to the middle of this green will give you a solid par, which is a good score on this long par 3 with a two tier green. The green is protected by water on the right, and bunkers short and left.
Hole 9
Par 4
415 yards
A slight dogleg right to a wide fairway makes this hole a tough finish for the front nine. Out of bounds left, trees down the right make no room for an errant tee shot. The green opens up front right with bunkers protecting the left side. Par is a good score.
Hole 12
Par 4
387 yards
A straight away par 4 that can get you if you are not careful. A good fairway wood or hybrid off the tee will set you up for a short to mid-iron into an elevated green. Bunkers surround the front of the green while water is lurking on the left for any errant approach shots.
Hole 15
Par 4
450 yards
This is the longest and toughest hole on the course, starting a challenging finish. The uphill tee shot requires 270+ yards to see the two-tiered green, guarded by bunkers on both sides. A back pin position allows the ball to roll to the rear, aided by the slope.
Hole 18
Par 5
542 yards
A great finishing hole that usually plays down wind gives the golfer a great chance at birdie to finish off their round. Players will need to avoid the large fairway bunker on the right side that is not visible from the tee. The approach will need to avoid two small ponds on the left if they lay up or will need to be accurate if they decide to take a shot at reaching this narrow green in two.
